You can choose between different fields for the 12 month program. You can choose from finance, tourism, events, hospitality. Also you can do the normal 3 month job but for 12 months. Let me know if you need any more information, be happy to help. Nichola ;D nfdavis@uclan.ac.uk
Yes. I'm intriuged. Is this part of the ICP J1 Academic Program? Is it arranged as part of a uni-course, or is it standalone?
The new 12 month course is on a J1 Student visa, this is because while working at disney you must complete a course/courses (not sure how many) at the disney university. As nichola said there are several fields you can choose from, I think it is only available to UK people at the moment and Disney/Yummy Jobs targeted people at university to apply for the positions. However you do not need to be a returning student nor do you need to be at one of the universities Yummy Jobs targeted. Personally I only found out about this when I'd had my phone interview for the summer programme, then found out i couldnt go cos im graduating this year, then Yummy Jobs suggested I come to the F2F interview for this. Now Ive got a place and goin from August 15th 2006 (from Manchester) to August 9th 2007, yay! If anyone has anymore questions about this feel free to ask, ill see if I can remember more of what they told us about it at the F2F. Ste
Do you know if you've already the summer college program before can you do is one? or not cause of the visa restrictions? As much as i'd love to work at Epcot in the international program i'd rather have the choice to do something else for a year, if i can. I know you cant do the summer ICP again because of the visa. Mhairi
Erm sorry not sure. Out of the people I spoke to at the interview none of them mentioned previous USA work either, so it'll be a struggle to find someone who knows the answer to that one. Ste
From what I have managed to ascertain from Yummy and WDW International Recruiting, the reason one cannot do the summer ICP twice is not because of visa restrictions, but simply Disney policy. I have got a couple of e-mails expressly saying this. Also, BUNAC (who use the same visa as Disney for their 'Work America' program) allow multiple participation. So I'd be surprised if, for visa reasons, you couldn't return. Disney policy, however, is another matter of which I have no idea. If in doubt, e-mail them!
Ste, when did u interview? I've got an interview in April for this prog. but I'd have to leave before June (I'll have graduated a year by then). Seems fairly short notice. But why an I not surprised. : ;D Lol. Ona x
Also, do you have any info. on the courses and job roles? ??? I have some info but enough. Hi. My name is Ona and I'm an obsesive planner. ;D Ona x
I always thought it had something to do with the visa - glad i'm wrong about that, means if i want i can go and do some summer camp things next year Think i might look into this program later. I take it you dont have to be studying in that area (tourism ect)? Mhairi
is this available for Canadians... my understanding was that we could only get 3 months or 12 if we were at the pavillion... i would love to do 3 months during university and then the 12 month program after completion of my degree.
Hey brennan Nope i think this is different. The three month one is the summer college program and the year one is the International Program where you work for a year in your country pavillion at Epcot. They are already available to lots of people. The one they seem to be talking about now allows you to work there for a year in any of the parks on a number of different job (someone correct me if i'm wrong) but you have to take some courses/classes.
This sounds alot like the Disney College Program for US residents... I wish Canadians could participate!!
Thats what they told us at the interview, its basically the US program but international. As for more information I dont have anything on paper cos all info was in presentation, however we were told that we'd receive an information pack from Disney, at some point before we go, with more specifics regarding job roles. The only program categories I can remember were Business (which I'm doing), Hospitality Management and Events Management (which most people seemed to be doing at my F2F). The Business course does a rotation through about 5-7 roles, the ones I can remember are: Merchandise, Operations, Quick Srevice F&B, Full Service F&B and Transport but there may be others. The courses available are the long courses available as for the US, they're listed on www.wdwcollegeprogram.com then click on students > educational opportunities > syllabi. I had my interview on 6th December and at the interview I said I could start in July, but when they offered me the job it was for August 15th. Ste
