 THIS IS MY ANGRY FACE!

Well, im totally screwed! When i got a 'waitlist' from disney i decided in my infinate wisdom that this meant i probably wasnt goin- so to cheer myself up I upgraded my phone. THEN 3 and a half weeks later (past the 14 day cancellation option) Disney phone and give me a job- YEY!

Except now Im stuck with a phone I...
    a) cant use in America (without it costing me A LOT)
    b) cant reduce the tarriff on
    c) Will cost me £350 to cancel!!!!

So now im stuck with whats to become a very expensive paper weight! Ive been with 02 for 3 years and that doesnt seem to matter- they wont even let me reduce it early!! Is anyone else having the same contract dilema???

    ARRRGGGHHHH BOOOO TO O2!!! :( :(

I had the same problem 2 years ago and paid 280€ (almost £200)...

What you can do is, to find someone who is using the telephone for you, paying the bills... you can sell is to someone else and the person is taking over your contract...

Thats what I'm doing, my friend is gonna take over my contract while I'm gone as hers is finished. That way I can just get a new phone while I'm there. Good luck!!!

Gemma, you need to get them to send you a copy of the contract you are bind to and go through it with a fine tooth comb...

Most companies have a get out clause if you are leaving the country (though they don't like to advertise the fact) You will have to send them evidence but I do believe you are able to get out of it in that situation... I believe i've seen it in the Orange Ts and Cs but you'll need to check for o2... Give it a go :)

That was my first thought too!

 OMG Gem that's mad! I really hope you get it sorted. :-\

Could you also perhaps take your phone with you and use the mins etc. you are contracted for, but also get your phone unlocked and get a cheap US prepay sim. :-\

Get you Colin! A right wee fountain of knowlege. :p ;D

That's the relevant part on cancelling from the o2 website. You basically need to establish 8.4a, b or c, and that's not going to be easy.

Your easiest solution as others have said is going to be to find someone to take your contract over, unfortunately.
