Hey everyone. Well I just re-discovered these forums today and posted a Facebook status asking if anyone remembers coming here? A lot of people got excited and then we decided to do an "Ask Us Anything" in the style of Reddit's Ask Me Anything threads. Hopefully it will give some help to people looking to get onto the program or give those that are already accepted something to look forward to. A little about us... We are all Ex-CRP Cast Members. Most of us have worked for Disney Cruise Line too. Some of us still live in the US. We're all still very passionate about Disney and loved every minute of our program. I'll post a link to this thread on my Facebook for everyone to see and hopefully some people will get involved. I'll give them a chance to introduce themselves in the thread and then we'll get started answering questions. So... ASK US ANYTHING!
Hey Amy! Ha, seems like this place is a wasteland now. To think people used to be constantly posting.
How is it trying to book days off? My sister is wanting to get married in February 2016, which is during my program... And she's obviously waiting till I know whether I can't book it off or not before she finalizes things, but I'm just curious if Disney is pretty flexible. I mean that is off season.
I guess it depends on your position. I was in Merch and in February they were pretty much handing us days off. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get it, but put in for it as soon as you can. It is based on seniority. If you are arriving in 2 months time (judging from your signature). Then you'll be pretty high on the totem poll by the time Feb 2016 rolls around.
I'm F&B so I know scheduling days off is a lot harder. But thanks! Do you suggest I ask about it right away?
I'm from Iceland and would love to work at Disney. Do you know how I could get a job there? I don't believe I'm eligible for CRP, and I'm not a student. I'm graduating high school this summer and taking 1-2 gap years. Maybe you know someone from countries not eligible for the CRP program that got a job another way? Hope you can help
Hello! Just thought I would get around to introducing myself! As has been said, I am an IP Alumni! I was part of the J1A Pilot Program from 2006-2007, working in QS F&B and Attractions (Main Street Bakery/Jungle Cruise), I completed the CRP from 2009-2010 (Permanent Assigner at the Rose and Crown) and now I work for Disney Cruise Line in Youth Activities. My time in the TWDC has been the best years of my life. Don't get me wrong, lots of ups and downs have happened, but I cannot imagine working for anyone other than Disney. Hit us with your questions about anything! While I may be a bit out of touch with how things are done in the parks, much has stayed the same and experiences can be very similar! From wondering how to spends day off in the parks to getting out of the Disney bubble, we can help! L xx
Omg I would love to hear about your experiences on the cruises! How many months on/off are you? And what do you do during your off months?
Hello everyone! I'm Ria, thank you for starting this thread. I know that our Q1 visa allows us to arrive up to 30 days in advance of our program start date, but we need to notify the Immigration Compliance if we want to arrive more than 7 days earlier of our start date. I'm thinking to visit a friend in San Francisco around 2 weeks before my designated date. Has anyone here ever done this before and would you please kindly fill me in more about that? Thanks in advance!
Hey, I had the same issue. I'm driving to Orlando; therefore, I need to leave 7 days earlier. I emailed Disney about it and they said it's fine. You probably just need to give them notice you're coming earlier.
Hi Heather, thank you! I emailed the immigration compliance guys and although it took them a while to get back to me, they did say that it is fine to travel and visit a friend prior to start working. So I guess all set up now
