Uni Drop-Out = No Chance?

    Hi everyone :)
I'm applying for the CRP as soon as it reopens in August. My big worry is whether the fact that I left uni early will go against me...

I'm worried it makes me look like a quitter, but I'm not! I stuck at it for 5 months and then applied and started AGAIN at another uni because I really wanted to give it a fair chance, and to be honest... it actually took a lot of bravery to make the decision to leave :/
(Get ready for brag time!) The rest of my CV is pretty good to be honest... I was on a TV series a few years back, BASED in Florida (SeaWorld - 4K applicants - very lucky!) and I've been to DisneyWorld 6 times! I volunteer at Brownies, I work at an Agricultural College (Suffolk has a huge agric industry which I know a fair bit about) where my job involves working one-one with 14 year olds, and I've worked in a lot of fast food and retail environments including McDonalds (1st job) and Boots (massive on customer service). I also co-ran the Disney Society at uni when I was there. I have an A at A-level in Drama and a B in Media.

Do I stand a chance? Will any of that matter if they just see "UNI DROP OUT"? I'm so worried...
Reeeally sorry for the essay! I'd love some advice! Thank you so so much :) Please be honest! x

If it is an issue I might be screwed as well, since I'm dropping out of college after two years. I'll still have a degree after it. I hope it won't be an issue, I assume not. As long as you have work experience and fit the mold they're looking for, I assume (hope) it'll be okay.

If you're getting your degree I reckon you'll be fine :) I didn't get mine though, obviously. But I didn't just move back home and live off my parents either. I worked hard and got voluntary work, paid work, took every opportunity I could and moved into my own place with the money I'd saved after a few months. Still a bit concerned though... x

Hi there, dropping out of university doesn't make a difference when applying for a crp, or at least that's what I found. I did a year of University and then dropped out and I'm heading down to Florida in November to start my program :) What they do really like is volunteer stuff. I didn't get asked about university during any interview but I got asked about my volunteer hours a lot. Hope that helped! If you have any other questions I'm happy to answer!

Omg omg thank you so much! :O That's so reassuring! :) Where did you volunteer? I do Thursday night's at Brownies and I have previously done some youth club stuff and lunch time supervising. Did Yummy/Disney ever ask to see your GCSE or A-Level papers btw? Totally unrelated but I'm gonna need to pay for more copies of mine... God knows where they are! x

Oooh! - Also! Did you send a cover letter explaining anything about leaving uni? How did you say it? :/ Sorry if I'm bombarding you... I just want this opportunity so much! x

No problem glad I could be of service :) I've done a few community theatre shows as a volunteer performer. So just really make sure to sell whatever you volunteered for, you want them to know it was a really positive experience for you! I'm a Canadian so we don't have those...but it's like exams right? I never had to say anything about my grades or show any proof that I had graduated from grade 12. Since it's the CRP and not the College Program they care waaaay more about who you are as a person and how much you love your country than they do about your grades or schooling.

I did do a cover letter with my resume when I applied but I didn't say much about my year in uni, other than mentioning that I took 2 second language courses. I used my cover letter to talk about why I love Disney and why Disney should choose me to represent my hometown :) hope this all helps! Any other questions, just let me know!

Thank you thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply :) I was in the Amateur Dramatics Society and the Disney Society during my time at my second uni, I'll definitely put that in my cover letter. Just out of curiosity, how long after sending your application did you get told you'd be off in November? Congratulations btw! That's really awesome news :)

Hmm... I probably applied sometime in the beginning of April and I found out a few days ago that I got my offer. Thanks! Good luck!! :)

I'm sure dropping out of university won't be an issue, you have lots of volunteering experience which will definitely work to your advantage. :)
