Hi all! I've been around these boards on and off for years but finally I am ready to seriously apply for Jan 2015!! So excited! One question though - I need to get citizenship before going, the application online asks about citizenship. Do I fill this out anyway even if I'm still not finished the process? I don't know whether to put yes or no and if it'll seriously affect my application, like if they don't even consider it if I was to put no? I'm overthinking it I'm sure but it's so exciting being able to apply!
What's up guys! Have just submitted my application for the January intake, Exciting! I am from Wellington, NZ so hopefully there's some other Kiwi's on here I can get to know. Applied and got accepted into the program last year but ended up not accepting the offer as a number life things came up. Nothing stopping me now though so I'm really looking forward to it - David.
Hey David, Im Sophie, from Auckland. First time applying for me. Super nervous about the applications. The waiting is frustrating!
Haha tell me about it! Last year I had the application, interview & offer all within about 1 week, was crazy, so I didn't really have any time process it all and get nervous. But I guess now we'll be waiting a while until the recruiters come back maybe in July or August for our interviews. They were here in April recruiting for the August 2014 intake.
Hi guys! I'm Rebecca from Auckland It's so exciting applying, I'm watching youtube videos and reading blogs every spare moment I can haha. I want to get in so badly
When I first sent my application in I got a message saying I would hear about interviews in the next 4-8 weeks and that was 4 weeks ago, so hopefully it isn't too much longer!
I set one up maybe three weeks ago for people applying for the Jan 2015 AU/NZ program. Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Disney-AUNZ-Cultural-Exchange-Program-January-2015/306554416166087
Hey is there anyway it could be changed to a group rather than a page? It's a bit more of an approachable format
Hey. Sorry there's no way to switch a page to a group once it's been created. I'm pretty happy with the way it's working at the moment but I don't know what's different between a group and a page. If the difference is really that important to you you're welcome to create your own and I'll tell the people who already like the page that they can go join the group instead/as well.
A page is intended for people to be a fan of something or for an organisation (like a business for example) to have a Facebook presence. It's a much more passive environment where the business/admin whatever post updates and people can comment etc on that information. A group is more of a meeting place for a community of people, hence why sems suggested it would be more approachable and in this case probably more appropriate. Maybe someone could set one up if there isn't already one? I'm pretty sure a page also requires a lot more moderation and organisation on behalf of the people who set it up whereas a group pretty much runs itself. Oh, also, I've seen some people talking about Disney emailing them and asking for them to upload documents, but I haven't received anything like that! Is that a bad thing? Eep, now I'm worried!
Thanks Becsta I guess I'll start a group as well if no one else is on it. I've done the document uploading and one of the girls who liked the page did it as well. Maybe they're doing it in lots so they won't overload the system? That's the only reason I would think that they'd be doing it all at different times. Hopefully they get in touch with you soon
Exactly what I was thinking a group is more interactive for the members. I got asked a couple of weeks ago to upload my documents but I wouldn't stress about it. Are you from New Zealand or Australia? That might make a difference because New Zealand interviews are done first.
I've just started a group if anyone wants to join it. Also if anyone is interested in being an admin tell me and I'll add you https://www.facebook.com/groups/640160896059599/
Awesome Lily, thanks for doing that I just joined the group. I'm in Australia so maybe that's part of the reason I haven't been asked to upload anything yet. What documents do you have to send them? My passport expires in like a month so I have the renewal form but I haven't submitted it yet because I need to get photos done and I keep forgetting to do that!
You have to send them a filled out Proof of Student Status form that they will include in the email, you fill in a form about your passport (i.e. issue date, expiry date, previous visas, etc.) and then upload a scan of it, address details, emergency contact details and Visa Appointment details (just the city & country where your nearest US consulate is no actual appointment details). It's all super easy stuff so don't worry. The only hard parts for me were the PSS- because it took ages to get in touch with someone who had the school's official seal- and the Visa Appointment- because I didn't realize that it was just details of the consulate and thought that I had to already have an appointment booked. All silly things that I sorted out really quickly.
I've heard that they will let you wait to submit documents until after your interview but I guess we will have to see. I am waiting for my citizenship to come through so I don't have a kiwi passport yet... I won't be able to submit that until it arrives in a couple of months so eek!
Yeah I emailed them after the asked me to submit your documents. They give you seven days and I was still waiting on my passport to arrive. Disney replied and said: "Your Passport is requested, but not necessary to be considered for your program. If you are extended an Offer you will then be given a deadline to upload a valid passport before your visa can be issued. Once you receive your new passport please upload it then."
Thanks so much this makes me breathe a lot easier! I'm sure it will all come through by that time then, yay!
